American Bulldog / Mixed (short coat) : : Male
WOOF! Hello! My name is Duke. When I came to my current foster home, I was 15 pounds lighter and fading away. You see, my one and only human was taken away from me and I was stuck in a shelter where I became very anxious and nervous. I stopped eating completely and wasn’t sure there was anything worth going on for. Thankfully, a very nice lady from Hank’s Haven rescued me and took me to stay with my foster Mom and Dad.
Since joining my foster home, I have learned so many things! I have learned how to adapt and live with 7 other dogs (and 5 cats) in the home. I am very tolerant of all my fur siblings, but I do prefer the dogs that are smaller than me. My ideal forever home would have me as the centre of attention, or maybe a small dog or cat sibling that likes to nap like I do.
I’ve been through so much in my life that I really rely on my people everywhere I go. I’ve developed some separation anxiety, but I am working very hard on overcoming this.
I am a happy boy at family get-togethers, and kids running around playing doesn’t bother me at all! My mom still thinks older kids in the house will be best because I’m just so big and strong. My ideal home would have you at home with me as much as possible. Whether you work at home, have family members coming and going through the day, or just want to take me with you, I just want to be with my people! I am a little skittish when meeting new friends, so slow introductions are best, but after a minute, I will be kissing them all over!
You will not find a boy smarter or more loyal than me! I am VERY food motivated and love doing tricks and training with my foster Mom. I’ve learned sit, down, wait, spin, up, off, and many more. I would really like to continue running, playing, and learning in my forever home.
A fully-fenced yard is a necessity for me. My foster Mom says I have kangaroo legs, although I swear she said I was a dog when I first arrived. I can jump baby gates and short fences with ease. Maybe agility is in my future? I’m working on my leash skills and walk very nicely most of the time. I get excited to see other people and just want to say hi! I’ve been told that I have a really big BARK, but I swear I’m just saying hello and want to greet you with sniffs and giant kisses.
If you are looking for a partner in life, maybe we could do this thing together? Message my friends at Hanks Haven for more info about adopting me!
