Hi, my name is Sweet Potato. I love cats, dogs and most of all people!! My foster mom thinks it’s a lot to say when she’s calling for me to come inside, so she calls me Sweet P & I like it.  She says I’m perfectly named because I’m the sweetest boy she’s ever known. I live with Onyx, my foster sister, and she’s a lot of fun except when she tries to eat my food.  I let her, but my foster mom always catches her, and she gets in trouble.  I don’t live with any 2-legged siblings, but I’m curious when I see them on walks.  I don’t bark at them. I just wag my tail and try to get a little sniff in.  My foster mom keeps her eyes on me, but she doesn’t need to & she always tells me I’m a good boy when we past them.   I also like it when I meet new big people because they scratch my chin & rub my ears, which makes me feel good. I try to be a good boy on walks & not pull on my leash because I love walks & if I’m good, I get to go on more.  So far I’ve learned how to sit, lay down, and leave/drop.  I like to sit & lay down because I get treats when I do them. The leave/drop thing sucks because that means I can’t do what I was doing, but I know my foster mom doesn’t want me to hurt myself, so I listen. The first night I stayed with my foster mom, she put me in this thing called a crate.  I didn’t like it, so I barked and howled, and my plan worked. My foster mom let me out, and I got to sleep on the big bed with her and Onyx.  She said it was okay because I don’t have accidents in the house & I know how to tell her if I need to go out. Plus, I sleep all night without having to ask.  I did have to go in the crate when my foster mom went to work & I didn’t like it at first but now I go straight in, eat the peanut butter in my Kong and sleep until she gets home. My foster mom takes me for rides in a car.  It’s not so bad because it usually means we’re visiting my foster grandad and then going for a walk.  She usually lifts me into the car because it’s hard for me to jump in, but I jump out by myself, and when I’m inside, I lay down until we get where we’re going. I love playing with my squeaky stuffies.  Onyx & I play tug of war with them.  I also like balls. They’re fun, and I can’t wait to chase after them outside when the snow is gone, even though I love the snow.  I did like to floss my teeth with these cool things called ropes, but my foster mom caught me eating them & took them away from me.  She said she didn’t want me to spend any at the vet’s My foster mom says I’m the most loveable, easy-going boy, whatever that means, I just like taking in everything, including all the love she can give me. My furry foster sister escaped the backyard by climbing over a snow back. I alerted my foster Mom, who was able to get her back quickly and safely. My foster Mom called me her hero ❤️ I did have femoral head surgery. I have recovered quite nicely. I had a cat friend that helped keep me company while I recuperated from my surgery. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/femoral-head-ostectomy-fho-in-dogs I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on my vaccines. if you think you would like to adopt a wonderful guy like me, please apply!
