Hi my name is Gus! I am an adorable Pomeranian mix - likely Pomchi. I'm around 10 months old and weigh 10 lbs. My fur is soft black with white on my chest and front paws. My foster family tell me I’m handsome! I have been living in a house with a cat. I am curious about her and will run towards her until my foster mom tells me not to. We haven’t had a chance to meet up close as the cat keeps her distance from me. I have been living with a child that is over 10 years old. I am really gentle with her. I like receiving attention from her, being fed by her and going for walks with her too. I haven’t been around smaller children. I can be a little nervous around new people, but once we meet for a few minutes I start to warm up. I seem to be most nervous when I meet other people and dogs walking outside. When I went shopping at pet stores I was actually pretty calm even though there were other people around. I was a little nervous around the Great Dane there but after a few minutes I said hello. I am starting to get used to the idea of going outside and inside the house regularly. My favourite way to walk is towards home. Once home I need a bit of reassurance and guidance as we enter the house. I want to run straight for my bed rather than sitting to have my leash removed. But overall I’m learning what it means to go « outside » or « inside » and I’m getting more comfortable with these routines. When we are outside walking I can get a bit nervous with new noises - I have to stop and listen to what is going on. I like it when my foster mom reassures me. I am learning the phrases for going outside for a walk and going inside. I like to shake paws especially when I am happy and excited, in fact I almost dance with both paws up! I am trying to learn the command for sit and stay, but I haven’t got that yet. I am also working on my housetraining. I’m doing much better than when I first arrived but I still have an accident now and then. I’ll need someone to continue to help me learn. I have learned a lot about walking on a leash since I came to my foster home. My foster mom almost changed my name to Prancer since I kind of prance along beside her when we walk or play! I tend to pull on the leash when walking home - as I said that is my favourite direction to walk, especially when it is cold, windy and snowy or if I’ve heard some loud noises that make me a bit nervous. Oh, I forgot to mention that I love to run around and explore a fenced backyard. There’s so much to do! I sleep in my crate at night. Most nights I sleep right through the night. I’ve only barked at night or in the early morning one or two nights since I arrived to my foster home. I also stay in my crate when my foster family is out. I like having the crate door open when my foster family is home since I sometimes like to wander in and check it out. I am good with car rides - though I’ve just been on short rides not far from home. I tend to sit or lie down in the back seat. Maybe I’ll start to look out the window more soon! I can be a bit nervous in new places but with reassurance I do ok. I love to pull laundry out or play with the dish towel you hang within my reach! My foster mom gave me some old towels that I can call my own to play with! I also like my small stuffie and my chew toys. I’m sure there are other toys out there that I would love to try out! I haven’t demonstrated any food aggression. I like to have some food in or right outside my crate - not to far away or I might try to carry my dish to my crate. I am such a sweet happy pup that wants a loving home. I’ll show you how much I love you by shaking my paws with you! I’ll also play a funny game when it’s time to go outside where I prance about, and then run back and forth between my bed! I’ll also love playing with you in a fenced backyard. Zoomie circles around or near you are fun! My foster family and everyone who meets me say I’m too cute! If you are the family that that can help me build confidence and help me be the best I can be, please apply! *stay tuned for updated pics after my groom on Saturday!!* Gus is being fostered in Etobicoke. https://www.hankshaven.ca/info/adoption More about GusGood with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Does Good in the Car, Leashtrained, Cratetrained, Likes to play with toys, Likes to be in your lap, Playful, Affectionate, Gentle
